Nick Foster in action aboard the Steeline Metal Framing Systems Mygale at Queensland Raceway
Nick Foster has made a strong start to his campaign at round two of the 2010 Genuine Ford Parts Australian Formula Ford Championship at Queensland Raceway in Ipswich, Queensland today.
Foster was one the top three fastest drivers during each of the three practice sessions held today around the 3.12km circuit providing him with confidence for the weekend ahead.
While pleased with today’s result Foster and the Sonic Motor Racing Services team will make some minor changes to the Steeline Mygale SJ10a ahead of tomorrow morning’s qualifying session.
Foster was joined at the top of the time sheets during today’s practice sessions by his team-mates Ryan Simpson and Geoff Uhrhane along with championship leader Chaz Mostert.
Tomorrow’s action will consist of a 20-minute qualifying session at 10:20am followed by the opening 14-lap race of the weekend at 3:10pm. A further two 14-lap journeys on Sunday at 10:50am and 3:00pm will be held on Sunday.
WHAT NICK HAD TO SAY …
NICK FOSTER – #13 Steeline Mygale SJ10a:
“It doesn’t matter how many laps you have done around a track in the past because the track conditions are never quite the same,” said Nick Foster.
“So we worked on developing both a race set-up and a qualifying set-up. We’ve still got a little bit to do in terms of refining the set-up but we’re around the mark.
“This track usually brings the racing into one big pack because it’s reasonably fast and the slipstream is very important.
“It looks like a bit of a freight-train out there. There are both quick corners and slow corners here. If you’re car is fast enough and you can get a break on the pack it’s good to get away but that is hard to do.
“The Steeline car was good today so hopefully we can keep moving in the right direction tomorrow. I’ve really got championship points on my mind so it’s important to finish well and not get caught up in anything silly.”
