Steeline Mygale driver Nick Foster has completed a solid weekend at Winton Motor Raceway today with fourth overall in the third round of the 2010 Genuine Ford Parts Australian Formula Ford Championship.
Foster entered this event as the championship leader and after qualifying the young Queenslander was on course to continue to lead the pack, grabbing pole position in dominating fashion.
But in this weekend’s three tightly-contested races, Foster was able to stick with the lead pack but was unable to pull of passing moves on rivals to vault him to the front.
While Foster was disappointed to finish the weekend with one third place and two fourth place finishes, his consistency ensured he scored a decent haul of championship points at Winton this weekend.
Foster now sits second in the championship standings after three rounds, just two points behind new leader Chaz Mostert. Ash Walsh, the winner of this weekend’s three races, sits in third place.
Foster did grab one victory this weekend, with the Steeline Mygale awarded the Kangan Motorsport Training Award for the best presented car and team.
Round 4 of the Genuine Ford Parts Australian Formula Ford Championship will take place at Hidden Valley Raceway in the Northern Territory on June 18-20.
WHAT NICK HAD TO SAY …
NICK FOSTER – #13 Steeline Mygale SJ10a:
“It looked to be perfect a perfect weekend coming up after qualifying,” said Nick Foster
“Pole by two tenths of a second anywhere is a massive bonus.
“We still had that pace in the Steeline Mygale in the races but we just couldn’t use it.
“There were a couple of times there where we lost track position and Winton is arguably the hardest track in Australia to pass on, so my hands were tied a bit.
“If this is the worst weekend we have this season then it will be a pretty good season.
“We still scored good points although we our handy lead is gone.
“It will be a tight championship for sure so you need to press on and score points even on the days where things do.”
