FOSTER RETAINS SECOND IN POINTS AFTER TOUGH PHILLIP ISLAND WEEKEND

Nick Foster drives the #2 Steeline Mygale at Phillip Island
Steeline-backed driver Nick Foster has experienced an up and down weekend in Round 6 of the Australian Formula Ford Championship at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit in Victoria this weekend.
Foster was sixth overall for the round, enough to retain second place in the championship standings with two rounds remaining.
Inconsistent pace from the #2 Steeline Mygale and a mistake in Race 1 hurt Foster’s chances for a podium, but a strong recovery saw him finish third in the final race of the weekend at the fast and flowing circuit.
Round 7 of the 2011 Australian Formula Ford Championship will be held at the Armor All Gold Coast 600 at the Surfers Paradise street circuit in Queensland on October 21-23.
NICK FOSTER – #2 Steeline Mygale:
“The Steeline Mygale was fairly good early on in practice and qualifying,” said Nick Foster.
“I didn’t get a really quick lap together in qualifying but we knew we had good pace and could would be able to pass cars.
“I got to fourth in Race 1 and probably had arguably the fastest car on the circuit but I made a mistake at Turn 1 and that cost us a result.
“In Race 2 I got up there again but struggled towards the second half of the race and had to try my best to bring the car home in a good spot.
“We made some set-up changes for Race 3 and had strong pace. We had a fast car and got up there, but I just didn’t have a few things go my way with getting a slipstream tow at the right time but third in that race was a decent result.
“It’s not the weekend we would have liked. We had strong pace but we were a little up and down.”
