NICK FOSTER STARS WITH FOURTH IN PORSCHE CARRERA CUP DEBUT

Sunday, December 4th, 2011

Nick Foster drives the #60 Fujitsu Porsche GT3 Cup at the Sydney Telstra 500

19-year-old young gun Nick Foster was a stand out performer in the final round of the Porsche City Index Carrera Cup at the Sydney Telstra 500 in New South Wales this weekend.

Foster showed rapid improvement in his Carrera Cup debut aboard the #60 Fujitsu-backed entry, rising up the ranks with every session to be an outstanding fourth in the third and final race of the event.

As the Victorian-based Queenslander was the championship’s Guest driver in Sydney this weekend, Foster was ineligible for points.

But such was his pace around the Sydney Olympic Park street circuit, Foster would have finished fourth overall for the round had he scored points in the top-flight Professional class in the prestigious category.

NICK FOSTER – #60 Fujitsu Porsche 911 GT3 Cup:

“I’m very, very happy with this weekend,” said Nick Foster.

“I’m happy for all the guys who worked on the car. This is a deal that has brought together a lot of people from all over the place so this is great.

“I’m on top of the world in some ways. We came into the round and were 15th in first practice, which was only my second drive of the car, and we were fourth in the final race. We improved over the whole weekend.

“I’m pretty stoked with how everything went here in Sydney and our progress through the weekend. I’ve got to thank Porsche, Fujitsu, Steeline, Hornet and everybody that has got involved and got behind me this weekend. It’s been an awesome, awesome experience.

“These Porsche Carrera Cup cars are awesome things to drive. This weekend I’ve been trying to keep it off the ways.

“I’ve just been taking a step back and haven’t been trying to push it as hard as I should have. In terms of where we are at pace-wise and what the car is like it is still a little bit unknown because I haven’t really pushed it to its limits yet.

“We just improved steadily over the weekend. These cars are absolute unreal and a completely different beast to drive compared to what I’m used to.

“This is something to look to next year and we will see what happens.”
